London Race Action Plan (LRAP) Consultation Meeting 5th June 2024

London Race Action Plan (LRAP) Consultation Meeting 5th June 2024

On the 5th of June 2024, Ehre Productions attended the London Race Action Plan (LRAP) monthly workstream engagement meeting hosted at the prestigious New Scotland Yard. This LRAP consultation meeting was organised to help to shape the plan and strategy to provide scrutiny for Londoners.

We were introduced to the new London Race Action Plan Programme Director: D/Chief Superintendent Georgina Zumaris, who has recently taken the charge over from Chief Supt Jeff Boothe. The plan for the meeting will be to discuss the review of LRAP

Following activities were involved during the session.

  • All participants were divided into small groups and asked to identify at least one major issue within Met policing
  • We on our part identified the recruitment process as one of the biggest impediment for successful hiring from BAME community. The length and vetting process which can take up to a year was highlighted as a major obstacle for job aspirants as it can discourage them to apply for Met Roles
  • Unfortunately we witnessed lot of hostility from certain community partners and participants from LRAP with some of them declaring the meeting as a complete waste of time and unnecessary effort allegedly Met lacked any actual planning and vision to improve overall policing, treatment of black community and their successful recruitment within Met force. Although it must be acknowledged that Met team was extremely patient and handled all the criticism with utmost professionalism and empathy. Despite all the negative the feedback, we came out convinced that Met with its LRAP and outreach programme are on the right track because they have displayed the conviction determination and the willingness to reform police force and improve their recruitment mechanism in order to engage the diverse London community.

Our team was fully engaged throughout the event, actively participating in discussions and absorbing the latest London Race Action Plan.

The LRAP event provided valuable insights that will enhance the effectiveness of our outreach efforts, aligning them with the broader goals of promoting diversity and inclusion.
As we move forward, Ehre Productions remains committed to contributing meaningfully to initiatives like LRAP and supporting the overarching objectives of fostering an inclusive and equitable community.

First South Asian Met Outreach Recognition Awards

On FRIDAY 17th MAY 2024, EHRE PRODUCTIONS: Metropolitan Police Community Outreach Partner, organised the first South Asian Met Outreach Recognition Awards at the beautiful Grand Sapphire Hotel & Banqueting London.

More than 60 Metropolitan Police officers were present alongside South Asian community members under one roof. Media coverage was provided by South Asian news channels, including ARY Geo, 92 News and Dunya News.

This event was organised to celebrate unity, diversity, and to recognise and acknowledge the efforts of our very own London Metropolitan Police. Our main motive was to bring the communities together and to reduce the gap between law enforcement organisations and the local communities.

Various police officers were given recognition awards from distinguished community members. This event will be recognised as a stepping stone towards building trust and a stronger, more united London.

We had multiple inspiring speeches from high achievers of British Indian, Pakistani, Bangladeshi and Nepalese origin.

In the concluding speech, The CEO of Ehre Productions: Modasser Zaki, the main event organiser, highlighted the importance of such initiatives in fostering mutual respect and understanding between the police and the community. He showed his gratitude to the police officers sacrificing and risking their lives for the public and also their families being supportive towards their professional lives.

He also mentioned that the Metropolitan Police is not just enforcers of the law; they are the partners in building a safer, more connected community. Policing is about protecting the community, helping the vulnerable and ensuring that the local neighbourhoods are safe and can trust them.

According to Modasser Zaki the most impactful aspect of the program was witnessing the diversity within the police force. This diversity illustrates that when individuals from various cultures and beliefs unite with a common goal, they can achieve remarkable outcomes. It was an inspiring experience to see such representation and commitment firsthand. It showed that the community’s safety is in the hands of people who understand and respect the diversity of London.

Mr. Zaki concluded by expressing that, as an Ahmadi Muslim, the concept of "serving humanity" is at the heart of his beliefs.

Reflecting on the campaign’s hashtag, bethechangeuwant2c, he reminded everyone that the power to effect positive change lies within each of us.

The Gambia: The Smiling Coast of West Africa

In April 2024, I had the privilege of visiting a country on the West African coast, The Gambia: The Smiling Coast of West Africa, a lifetime experience that deeply impacted my perspective on humanity and life. During my time there, I witnessed both the challenges and the hard life. I was able to visit and capture almost all the projects initiated by Humanity First in The Gambia. This was my first trip to the African continent. My team was able to capture stills, videos, and interviews of Humanity First’s projects, including schools, IT training centers (Knowledge for Life), medical treatments and training (Global Health), solar bore wells (Water for Life), and community gardens (Food Security) in remote villages.

Humanity First is an international relief and development agency operating in 62 countries across 6 continents and providing humanitarian assistance to millions of people.

We filmed at the Edward Francis Small Teaching Hospital in Banjul and witnessed how a team of UK-based doctors worked hard to give medical care to locals and trained the medical staff. Seeing their commitment to making healthcare better in West Africa was inspiring.

Engaging with members of the local community in rural areas offered me a deeper insight into their daily struggles. Despite the harsh life, hot weather and limited resources, their warmth and hospitality were truly noteworthy. They graciously welcomed us with their traditional style, offering a glimpse into their rich cultural heritage. I was able to meet the governor of the central river region of The Gambia. Our conversation shed light on the ongoing efforts by Humanity First in the country.

As I look back on the time I spent in The Gambia, I realise how lucky we are compared to billions of people. We often forget how blessed we are with health, education, wealth and other resources. In most African countries, these things are hard to come by. Their women and even children work hard, usually, they must manage the household, cook food and fetch water.

I don't know how those people are left behind or whose fault it is. The fact of the matter is that if Allah Almighty has blessed us with something, we should share it with those who are weak, vulnerable, and needy. So, I request everyone to look at themselves in the mirror and think about how you can support or help those who are in need. If you have any skills, ideas, research, or expertise you can work on the ground and support them to improve their lives or help them by donating your money.

Thanks to @HumanityFirst for giving me this opportunity.

Collaboration with Metropolitan Police at Hbeauty Pre Eid Event 2024, AFC Wimbledon

As a community outreach partner, Ehre Productions collaborated with the Metropolitan Police outreach team in the Chaand Raat Event organised by HBeauty at the AFC Wimbledon on the 8th of April, 2024. At this Pre-EID Chand Raat event, South Asian and Arab Muslim communities were present. There were different stalls and activities for everyone, including ladies and kids.

Our collaboration aimed to highlight the importance of joining the Metropolitan Police and to educate people from diverse backgrounds about how they or their family members can join the Metropolitan Police. Metropolitan Police officers (including two detectives and one police officer) joined this outreach campaign.

People visited our stall and interacted with the Metropolitan Police and Ehre Productions team. We got good quality leads by interacting with approximately 50 to 60 individuals for this community outreach campaign. The event, spanning 6 hours, provided a platform for attendees to engage directly with the Metropolitan Police. The organiser provided dedicated time to Metropolitan police officials. Sargent Alan was invited on the stage to highlight the career opportunities and pathways within the force, dedicating 5-6 minutes to these discussions.

Ehre Productions had worked with the Metropolitan Police outreach team on previous events before this one. This event was a part of the Metropolitan outreach campaign. For an outreach initiative, it was a successful event.
